Having Fun!

Well I have had a really fun week sewing all kinds of different things, I made these little coasters out of Olivia the Pig fabric for my little Etsy shop. I really love this fabric, it was fun cutting out all the different little piggies. Then at long last I finally learned basic crochet and made this little pouch to hold a camera or an ipod..... I told you I had fun. Tomorrow though the fun will end for a while as it's Friday and it's house cleaning day, maybe if I work really fast I can still have a couple of hours of fun though!

Wishing lots of fun to you too!

Wednesday

I finished six little eggs yesterday, I am not sure if I like them just like they are or maybe with a little decoration, I'll look at them for a while before I decide.

I just realized yesterday that I think I have been blogging for almost a year, I will have to go and check to make sure, some days it seems a lot longer, especially when I am having trouble coming up with things to blog about. I think this time of year is much more difficult though, so I have decided to take my camera with me everywhere I go and see what I can find. For instance, I saw these lovely little beauties while at the grocery store, they can brighten up any ones day, don't you think?I also saw some deer this morning out on the golf course behind our house, but as I don't have a gigantic lens on my camera I just had to enjoy them all by myself, maybe hubby can help here.
I was given some recycled felted wool sweater pieces recently so I decided to make some little tissue cosies, the pieces were quite small but just the right size for a little cosy, I have already popped them in my shop.

I have still got a case of the crafting blah's but I feel creativity slowly returning, thank goodness.

Hope you have a terrific day!

Something different and a celebration!

Saturday was my 36th Wedding Anniversary, my goodness how time flies when you are having fun, it only seems like the blink of an eye and not a whole 36 years.

Aren't the flowers above just wonderful, my lovely sister-in-law brought them all the way back from Hawaii for us to celebrate, how lucky are we, and if that wasn't enough........these wonderful tulips were a gift from my mother-in-law, now I really am thinking Spring.I stepped away from the knitting and sewing this weekend and did something completely different, I ventured into some card making, I must say I had heaps of fun, I thought I would make some Easter cards...here is a few of them, made from reproduction vintage cards.I even made a few gift tags, and a few more, all in all it was a lovely weekend, I think it is good now and then to do something completely different, you never know you just might find something that you really love!

Have a wonderful Monday!

"Hatching" eggs!

It has been a very slow blogging week for me this week as I have been very uninspired when it comes to the crafting front, but the end of the week took an upturn and I decided to get a head start on Easter with some little knitted Easter eggs. These little pastel eggs are still waiting to be decorated but I thought I would show their progress anyway. I like projects like this as I can sit downstairs in front of the television in the evening and merrily knit away. Hopefully next week I will get my crafting mojo back and have lots more things to talk about and show.

Have a wonderful weekend one and all!

Harry...the new man in my life!

I told my hubby not to bother coming home tonight as there is a new man in my life, his name is Harry, he even brings me flowers....what more could I ask for!

Can you believe that we lost phone and Internet service again today, it came back on again at 10.15pm, I am typing furiously just in case it should happen to go out again, I am not sure what the problem was, I hope whatever it was they have finally fixed it for good this time. This is a "what was I thinking" piece of fabric, I thought it was cute when I first bought it until I realized that it really is quite gruesome! I had visions of making some cute tooth fairy things for my Etsy shop, well upon closer inspection all the little teeth have some red on the end of them just like they were all pulled out. I think it would give nightmares to little ones, needless to say, no tooth fairy creations will be made with this!

Believe it or not even in this cold weather our little hummingbirds are still around, I spotted one this morning while I was having breakfast. It took me a few minutes to realize that the poor little guy wasn't getting any food from the feeder because it was all frozen, so out I went in my jammies into a balmy 26 degrees, retrieved the feeder and filled it with some lovely fresh nectar so he could eat breakfast too. I am pretty sure I will have to do it again tomorrow as it looks like it will be very cold again, this time I will be smarter and wear my robe!

Happy Inaugural Day!

Fabric and Jelly Beans!

Two of my favorite things are fabric and jelly beans. For some strange reason this fabric stash and these little jelly beans seemed to compliment each other quite nicely...I think the fabric will last just a little longer than the jelly beans though!

I was planning to make more bunnies this weekend, but somehow as usual the weekend just got away from me, I do have a nice clean house though so at least that is one thing that was accomplished. My mother-in-law stopped by on Sunday afternoon so we made time for tea and some wonderful apple raspberry pie. I also made time for a short trip into the garden, although it was damp and cold it felt good to be out there again.Even though it is still winter things are already starting to pop out, this weeping pussy willow already has a few white fluffy buds opening......and this lovely winter blooming heather brings some welcome color at this dreary time of year, I can hardly wait till more things start waking up....patience Kathy, patience!

Have a lovely Monday!

Bess

Bess is patiently waiting for her Valentine to come by...I hope she is not in for a long wait!
A while back during one of our antique shopping trips I found these wonderful linens, one is even embroidered with my initial, the letter K. Quite often on weekends if it is rainy we go antiquing, I could spend hours digging through piles of linens, old lace and whatever might happen to be there. Seeing a pile of stuff lying there only makes me all the more curious as to what treasures I might find tucked underneath. My mother on the other hand didn't care much for antiquing, like most people of her generation she just saw the stuff as being old. I can almost cry at all the things that were probably discarded over the years because they were "old". I remember quite clearly, even though I was still a young girl, all the wonderful antique furniture that was replaced in my grandmothers house because it was getting old and it was time to get some new modern furniture... times change I guess. It is the time of year here when sunrises and sunsets are at their most beautiful, who could be grumpy when this is what greets you first thing in the morning, as it did us a few days ago. I am quite often asked why we live here in the Pacific Northwest, I even ask myself that during our month long sieges of rain... well this is why!

See you all on Monday!

Problem solved

Finally I can get back on line again and use the phone, it was a very frustrating weekend not being able to answer emails and take care of business. A very big thank you to my wonderful daughter for popping into my blog and leaving such a nice message and a lovely video....but I am still not making you an otter! Another big thank you for all the lovely emails from everyone, please forgive me if I don't answer you all personally but it is taking me forever to catch up.

Those lovely flowers in the pic above came from my daughters Etsy store, can you believe there are only two stems in that vase, each stem is very full and I just love them.It was amazing to me at how much sewing I accomplished while not having the Internet, these little pouches are a birthday gift for a special someone........I even made a matching gift card. I was really into sewing these little bags that I made a few of them , some even have matching tissue cosies. I am ashamed to say that not one bunny was made over the weekend, I was having to much fun making these little bags, bunny making will resume tomorrow though as I have to make some for a special order.

Thanks again everybody for your lovely comments, hopefully in the next day or two I will be blog visiting trying to catch up on all your wonderful blogs.

Where's LizzieJane?

Hi all! LizzieJane's daughter here!

Just a quick note to let you all know that Mom hasn't had phone or internet service for the last couple of days so that explains the lack of news from the creative headquarters at LizzieJane. We're hoping she'll be back online tomorrow.

In the mean time, she wanted me to let you all know that she has been creating up a storm and will have lots of great new goodies to share when she returns.

I'll do my best to entertain you with this very sweet pair of otters. I think LizzieJane should make an otter for her shop - don't you??

Take care,
Layla (aka "LizzieJane's most fabulous daughter in the whole universe")

New yummy yarn and a bunny

My younger sister and I are so much alike, and yet oh so different, take for instance knitting, while we both knit she prefers really bulky yarn, the thicker the better, I think if she had her way she would knit with rope if she could, she likes her knitting to grow fast! I on the other hand like really fine yarn, the thinner the better. That is why I was so thrilled the other day when my yarn order turned up in the mail, it is such whisper thin mohair and it is as light as a feather, I was so giddy with excitement that I just had to knit something....
...this little sweater made for a new little bunny is so incredibly soft and light that when it is in your hands and if you close your eyes you feel nothing, I can hardly wait to get my hands on the rest of it.This is Rosie, and as you can probably guess she loves gardening almost as much as me, unfortunately she will have to wait a while before going outside, we had so much rain the last few days that the garden has turned into a bog and I would hate for her to get her lovely pink outfit all muddy!

Bunny Love

I thought it was time that I made a couple of little Valentine bunnies, meet Jacob and Emily, fresh from the sewing machine! I had originally made them as two separate bunnies but they just looked so cute together, I almost hate to split them up.It is pouring down with rain here today and will be for the next few days, so what better time to make something out of my new baking book that my lovely little sister sent to me. She really does send the most wonderful gifts and she knows me so well, the little cupcakes in this book are so wonderful.......one of these would go down well with a piping hot cup of tea........or how about one of these, it almost looks to cute to eat....not!And of course for all my fellow chocolate lovers out there, how about one of these little lovelies. Well whatever cupcakes I decide to make they sure won't get made all the time I am sitting here at the computer in my jammies!

Have a lovely Tuesday!

Grace

Normally when I am in the middle of sewing a new little one the name just pops into my head, for some reason while making this bunny the name just didn't come to me. When she was finished I asked my hubby if he had an idea for a really good name, well he came up with with Grace, and as soon as he said it I knew that was what it was meant to be.

I was given a lovely award a short while ago from Sue who blogs at The Portuguese Water Blog, she made some lovely comments about me and they very much appreciated. Now it is my turn to bestow this lovely award on some wonderful bloggers, and they are:
- Bethany at Red Yarn who always brings us such useful information on her blog as well as some really fun stuff.
- Jen at Frazzy Dazzles who has the most wonderful imagination, I can hardly wait to see what she will come up with this year.
- Terri at Merrily Musing Mom who is one of the kindest people you will ever come across, I love reading her meaningful posts.

Thank you ladies for being my blogging buddies, please feel free to pass this award along to some bloggers that make you smile.

Thornton

Thornton came by on New Years Eve and decided to stay a while, he was rather lovely and brought me some yellow roses. He is quite tall for his age measuring approximately 20 inches, including his ears, so he tells me.

I hope all your holiday celebrations were wonderful, and if you are like me it does feel kind of nice to get back to normal, doesn't it?

All our snow has gone now, it sure did cause a mess while it was here, we were some of the lucky ones though as the power stayed on only flickering a couple of times, just enough to make us a wee bit nervous. Our poor daughter on the other hand was completely snowed in without power, so she had to resort to cooking Christmas dinner on a little Coleman stove, I'll have to ask here what she made. She even managed to get herself on television while trying to shovel out her driveway, apparently local news reporters were in the area scouting out stories on how everyone was fairing and happened upon her, so that is how she ended up on the 10 o'clock news. What a lovely surprise to see our daughter on the news shoveling out her driveway!

It feels rather nice to be back to regular blogging again, I can hardly believe that soon it will be a year since I started doing this, I never thought I could come up with anything interesting to say, now it seems you can't shut me up!

I think 2009 will be a very interesting year. Have a lovely weekend everyone.
