Taking a Bloggy Break

I have decided to take a short blogging break. With my daughters craft fair looming in just under two weeks, and with still having so much to get finished, I thought that this was the perfect time to just take a short break. Not to worry though I will be back in a couple of weeks with lots of photo's and news all about the fair.

See you all soon.

Spring is Here!

Now I know that Spring is officially here because these little guys have turned their most beautiful shade of yellow. In the fall and winter they are a very drab color, but look out when Spring arrives.

I spent most of the weekend in my garden. The weather was glorious and I had lots of planting to do. I planted all of my garden boxes with lovely brilliant red geraniums... 47 to be exact. Every year I buy the small plants, usually they are under a dollar each. With plenty of feeding and some tender loving care in a month to six weeks or so they look magnificent. Spring also brings these tiny tree frogs out of their winter hibernation. I just couldn't resist I just had to pick this one up.

We have quite a few birds nesting in our garden this year. If I get just a little to close to the nests the mommy birds sure give me a telling off. It is so lovely to hear the little babies tweeting when food is brought home. I had to laugh when I saw this pic my hubby took. This little guy sure looks like he means business and will fight with any one that ventures into his territory. We have nicknamed him "Guido". With the craft show coming up in just a couple of weeks I have to force myself to sew every day. With the weather being so lovely I really, really have to force myself!
This is just one of many little pouches that I will be taking with me.
I also did a little experimenting with stamping and coloring on linen. I was pleasantly surprised at how it turned out. Now I have to decide what I want to do with them. I am sure something will pop into this crazy brain of mine!

Have a wonderful Monday!

A lovely walk

This little guy was on our back deck a couple of days ago. It is a little newt and he was most co-operative and held very still while having his photo taken. It never fails to amaze me at all the new little creatures that seem to wander into our yard. The weather was beautiful here today so soap making and sewing were put on the back burner and we went out for a lovely walk. All the birds are so busy right now with nest building and raising young. I thought this robin looked very sweet sitting in the sun. The wonderful painted turtle that we saw a few weeks back was sitting on the same rock, this time you can see how colorful it really is. We came across this Hairy Woodpecker, we actually heard it before we saw it as it was hammering away at a tree. I so enjoy our walks we never know what little creatures we will come across.

I was given another award last week, Lisa who blogs at Periwinkle gave me a Kreativ Blogger Award. Thank you Lisa.

Now, apparently I have to list 7 things that I love and also pass it on to 7 other people, hmmm lets see.. in no particular order..

1.My family, of course.
3.The color yellow.
4.Waking up in the morning to sun.
5.My garden.
6.My sewing room.
7.Chocolate, I always have to have that as a favorite.

Just in case you are all to busy to do this award I will leave it here.

Have a wonderful Thursday everybody!

Cake anyone....

Just kidding, this is my soap that I have been working on all weekend. A batch already went home with my daughter who dropped by. The one in the back is a soap for men and it smells wonderful. The strawberry looking one is just that, it is a strawberry buttermilk soap and is very lovely and creamy. My house smells absolutely terrific, I think I like this soap making! As well as soap making we also made bath bombs. These were really fun and went together quite quickly. My daughter had a large order to fill so we pitched in to help. We had a large box with all kinds of fragrant oils. It was fun picking out which scent to use or blend together to make a new fragrance. We decided to set up everything in the garage that way if a mess was made it really didn't matter. It really was a very fun way to spend the weekend! We weren't stuck in the garage all weekend though. A trip into the garden found another one of my hummingbirds taking a bath. I thought this little fellow would get washed over the side of the rock but he stood firm and took his bath flying up into the tree to dry out. So that was my weekend... how was yours?

We have soap... well kind of!

Soap making started today! I can't show you the real soap yet as it is still curing in the mold. I can however show these cute little melt and pour soaps that we made for fun. There are so many lovely molds for sale that it was really hard to choose. I wish I could have them all but they are a little bit pricey so I had to make do with one... for now! It was a very good day to make soap as the weather was really yuck, but I did take a break and ventured out into the garden to photograph these wonderful daffodils. I have been tempted to pick them before the wind and rain destroys them, but they looked so lovely in the garden that I had second thoughts. Isn't this fun fabric, I haven't a clue what to make with it but it shouted out my name while I was in the fabric store so it came home with me! My daughter wanted crochet facial scrubbies so this is what I have been crocheting in front of the TV the last two nights. They are quite easy and fun little things to make and they don't call for a lot of yarn. These were made with an all cotton crochet yarn, soft but scrubby at the same time. Well of course I had to include at least one nature pic in my post today. So once again here is one of our little hummingbirds. This one is sitting atop our Weeping Pussy Willow tree, he's such a lovely little fellow.

Well what a Hodge Podge post this is today, I think there is a bit of something for everyone. Hope you all enjoy it.
