Peas please!

Well today I think I picked the last crop of peas from my garden, they really have been wonderful this year, I think in part due to our cooler summer. So tonight we will be gobbling up these goodies!

Next year before planting our vegetable garden, my dear friend Annette and I will be getting together beforehand, to talk about what each of us will plant. We always share with each other our gardens bounty, so if we plant different things then we get so much more of a variety. This is especially useful if you only have a small area to plant in.
Later in the afternoon my lovely mother-in-law stopped by with a fresh baked cherry cake....yummy that is dessert taken care of for tonight.....minus two pieces!Well I couldn't let my blogging week end without one more hummingbird photo, this one is especially sweet and tender, it is a mommy hummingbird with her baby. She was quite patient and sat for a bit while my husband clicked away furiously, I think they are tolerating him quite well, although I imagine they must be wondering what that strange human is doing hiding behind a rose bush!

Have a lovely weekend everyone!

Thanks so much for leaving a comment on my blog. You have a lovely one here, you are now well and truly in my blogroll to return! There is nothing better than eating a pea straight out the pod, or a piece of that lovely cherry cake, what a mother-in-law to have. That's a fantastic shot of the hummingbirds, not a bird you will see over here in the UK, not in the wild anyhow. x

What a marvellous looking cake!!

I have never seen a baby hummingbird before - what a lovely little scene of the mummy sorting the baby out.

Peas.....I am not a fan which is a shame because they look so nice.

I *love* peas in the pod and they are sooo hard to find here... all you can ever buy are the snow peas and sugar snaps, and they are just not the same! I know I really need to grow them, but I want some right now! :-)

The humming birds are also sooo cute!

Both the peas and the cake look scrumptious! Is the cake sort of like an apple cake but with cherries? I've never seen one like that! The hummingbird photo is so good...really you and your husband ought to see about entering some of your wildlife photos in a contest or something! Have a great weekend!

Fresh peas - yummy - seems like you have to shuck so many pods just to get a small bowlful but definitely worth the time. The cherry cake looks delicious - don't think I have ever had cherry cake - looks almost like a coffee cake. Hope you have a great weekend - after two days of constant rain it is finally drying up here so yard work will be on tab for the weekend.

Such treats. I love Cherry cake too. The apron is so sweet. I might manage it in three hours or so if you did it in an hour.

ooh... peas.... I miss my garden - I kind of gave up on it last summer after a few scorching Melbourne summer days burnt off all my poor little seedlings. We have serious water restrictions here, and I couldn't save them. I used to have a fantastic garden in Ireland - and shared produce with friends like you do. It's a wonderful way to live.
