One Fish, Two Fish......

My husband wanted fish, not the kind you eat with chips or tartar sauce, but pictures of fish to hang on the wall of his bathroom. As I am absolutely hopeless with drawing and painting, I did the next best thing, I appliqued him two pictures. The nice thing about doing an applique picture is, you don't have to be to tidy when it comes to the back of the piece as everything will be hidden in the frame.
I found these two patterns at our local quilt store and had them finished in no time. It is a really good way to use up very small pieces of fabric that you would otherwise throw away.On the roof of our home we have a lovely weather vane, a gift from my husbands mother, it fits so beautifully with our white house with black shutters, during the winter winds it gets quite a workout!A good indication that our seasons will soon be changing are these little goldfinches, they are not so bright yellow any more, they have now gone a pretty drab color, but they are still lovely. Every year when I see them change color I know that fall isn't to far away.Although I see changes already happening in my garden I still have my beautiful lillies to enjoy.

Happy Tuesday!

Those fish are so colourful and perfect for a bathroom space. We could do with your lovely weathervane today, it has been blowing a gale all day. Your goldfinches are different to ours, but equally as pretty. No red lily beetle on your lilies? x

Wouah ! I love your two fishies !!! It is such a good idea ! a beautiful realization !!!

I would love to have a weather vane...

The first signs I'm able to see about the changing of seasons, are the hundred swallows awaiting on the lines in front of my house. They are not on the lines yet... Take your time littles swallows, take your time :)
This week, I desperatly want to show to my daughter the shooting stars in the sky but it's too cloudy up there...

Have a lovely Tuesday :)

Kathy...what a wonderful way to use up the fabric indeed!!! you are so very talented!!! love the weathervane. i can tell fall is approaching as my roses are not blooming as much as previous months and at night, its getting colder. we also have a tree on the side of our house with brown spotted leaves instead of the dark green they used to be....they will be coming down soon. another sign of fall.... my kids start school in 3 weeks!! ;)

Wow your fish pictures are fantastic, clever lady. I have some Stargazer lilies in my garden they are so beautiful. If we had a weather vane it would probably have blown away by now along with my greenhouse, most winters :)

Your garden birdies are beautiful there on their tree stump. The weather vane looks like it is ready for the coming months after all. The appliques are great - a big project. I love the colours.

That lilly is one of my favorite colors! Wow. I think that photo just took my breath away! We used to have hundreds of goldfinches in the meadow behind us but the school mowed over their thistle. I miss their evening song! But I never knew that they turned less yellow... I just learned something. And your fish appliques~ Kathy I had no idea you could just whip these out too and so professionally! You are like a hidden diamond that we just discovered. Why haven't you done these things professionally???!
