What to do, what to do, what to do.....

One of the "joys" of owning a small garden pond is from time to time you have to scoop out junky stuff.

While doing this yucky task a couple of days ago I happened to notice that most of my little tadpoles were gone. I also happened to notice some good size air bubbles coming up from beneath the rocks.

Imagine my surprise when a wiggly little head appeared rising up out of the water, that wonderful little snake that I had photographed for an earlier blog entry is using my little pond for his own personal Chinese buffet.

Well that's not good said one neighbor, you need to get him out of there said another.

Unless I can shrink myself down to 2 inches small and put on miniature scuba gear I haven't the foggiest idea how to remove him.

If anyone has any ideas on how to remove him, without harming him of course, it would be gratefully appreciated.

I'll give you the weekend to think about it, hope you all have a lovely one.

I would call the SPCA or whatever organization you have in your area and ask their advice. It seems to me they would help solve this dilemna - worth a try anyway. Hope you have a great weekend.

Hmmm...we have had our fair share of little animals in our yard this spring and summer, but no snakes. I did call a local animal rehabilitation center twice, and they were very helpful, so Annemarie's thought might be a good one!

wow you have quite the garden of reptiles. i have no ideas but whatever you are doing to the rest of your garden is working. it looks absolutly beautiful. i end up killing all of my plants, not on purpose though.

Why don't you have his photograph identified by a herbatologist (don't say I don't watch my Steve Irwin!)....a snake guy! And if he is harmless then let him stay! Live and let live! Jen

I'm not too fond of snakes... don't they always travel in pairs? You may have more than one. I suppose there may be a way to bait and trap him, and then move him to a better location. But again, he might not be alone!

Hmm, not too many snake capturing ideas here, but I guess there needs to a a way of luring him out and into something more to your taste. The closest I hve come to dealing with a snake is a slinky for the '80s.

I don't know of a way to really stop him from eating the tad poles. You can scoop the snake up and relocate him.

you gotta have the most amazing garden on the www. you are so talented! anything you can't do? i say shrink down and get that creature outta there. or suck it up with a shop vaccum. lol! or get a a goat. i heard they eat everything, so they might eat snakes too. and this way it would be all in the food chain. more humane than the vaccum option. lol!
